Ghost of Tsushima PC Release | New Updates

Sony keeps astonishing us with its ongoing removal of the PlayStation Exclusive label. This has led us to suspect that Ghost of Tsushima PC could be next in line.

When the first AAA Samurai game was unveiled in 2017, gamers everywhere were over the moon, eager to explore feudal Japan. However, the excitement fizzled when exclusivity entered the picture.

Fast forward to 2022, and who would have thought we could play God of War, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Spiderman on anything other than a PlayStation 4?

These developments certainly make a strong case for a destined Ghost of Tsushima PC port.

But that’s not all we’re basing this speculation on!

Ghost of Tsushima PC

A while ago, multiple leaks, such as Nvidia 2.0 support, listed several PlayStation exclusives. The leak turned out to be somewhat accurate, as all the currently released PlayStation ports were included, albeit with different release windows. Considering this, it seems like it’s only a matter of time before Ghost of Tsushima makes its way to PC.

Will we see Ghost of Tsushima PC Port?

Amazon has surprisingly become a go-to source for confirming PlayStation ports. Both Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone were discovered heading to PC when their box art, missing the “Only on PlayStation” label, was spotted.

Last year, Ghost of Tsushima followed suit with new box art, sans the exclusive tag.

You might wonder if this is enough to raise your hopes, and we say, absolutely!

With Sony strategically releasing its games on Steam, starting with Horizon Zero Dawn and now Spiderman, it looks like they’re aiming to broaden their audience. Recently, a new rumor has been making the rounds, suggesting that the Ghost of Tsushima PC release date will be announced at the upcoming PlayStation showcase.

Sadly, Sony hasn’t provided any official confirmation so this speculation might be a long shot. However, since PlayStation did mention they’ll be addressing PC ports in their events, we could potentially see a Ghost of Tsushima PC release date by the end of 2023.

What Sony Has to Say on Expansion?

Sony executives shared their thoughts on their current strategy, saying,

“There’s no downside to this approach. It lets people get a taste of the PlayStation world.”

“We appreciate PC gamers and will keep considering the right times to launch each game.”

Former CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Shawn Layden, had a lot to say when asked about the sudden interest in bringing first-party titles to PC,

“They’ve chosen not to come to my house, so I’ve got to go to theirs. And what’s the best way to visit? Why not bring one of our top-selling games?”

Ghost of Tsushima’s arrival on PC would create quite a stir.

The game already looks stunning on a base PS4, and with the added perks of PC ray-tracing, uncapped frame rates, and customizable resolutions, it could set a new benchmark for visual excellence.

Since its 2020 release, Ghost of Tsushima has received a Director’s Cut, featuring the Iki Island expansion, Legends online co-op mode, and loads of digital extras. Sucker Punch Productions did a remarkable job crafting the first-ever open-world Samurai stealth slasher, with the increased production budget playing a significant role.

If you haven’t had a chance to play Ghost of Tsushima yet or aren’t particularly interested, you should definitely give it a shot.

The game is visually stunning, the combat mechanics blend Souls-like gameplay with Devil May Cry-style switching, and the challenge is intense. The legend difficulty setting can defeat you with a single sword strike, making the dodge button an absolute necessity.

Ghost of Tsushima PC Release Date

God of War, the most recent addition to the “not-so-PlayStation exclusive line-up”, was released earlier this year in January.

In a State of Play held on June 3, it was announced that Spider-Man Remastered would be the next PlayStation port, which was later released on August 12, 2022.

The carefully planned release dates of these ports indicate that Sony doesn’t want their releases to overlap. Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding became available in 2020, while Days Gone was released in May 2021. All these signs point to an imminent Ghost of Tsushima PC port.

Considering Sony’s strategic timing and eagerness to expand into the PC market, we expect updates soon. Ghost of Tsushima will likely make its way to PC, just not in 2022.

Currently, there’s no concrete release date to look forward to, nor is there a cryptic tweet from Sucker Punch that would send gamers into a frenzy of speculation. However, if we were to make an educated guess, we’d say next year. So, expect a Ghost of Tsushima PC release date around Q3 2023.

Interestingly, we also suspect that the release could coincide with a Ghost of Tsushima 2 announcement. This move could be part of Sony’s financial strategy. Many users cited this as Sony trying to cash in on the lucrative PC revenue. Ironically, Sony has already announced projected sales worth an impressive $300 million.

Ghost of Tsushima 2 Leak – Encounter Designer Job Listing

Sucker Punch has essentially hinted that Ghost of Tsushima 2 is already in the pre-production stage. This clue comes from a job listing on the official studio website, which features an open position for an Encounter Designer.

Encounter designers are responsible for creating rich open-world encounters, often missed by players as they rush through the main quest line. These are the folks behind those random encounters that pop up throughout the game.

The job listing is still open, and the very first requirement is quite intriguing. It states that they’re looking for someone who can “design engaging open-world encounters for a game heavily focused on combat and stealth.”

Sucker Punch Productions has only ever made three IPs for PlayStation: Sly Cooper, Infamous, and Ghost of Tsushima. It’s safe to say that neither Infamous nor Sly Cooper fit the description.

Ghost of Tsushima has already sold over 9.73 million copies for PS4 and PS5.

These impressive sales figures, combined with the potential of the PC market, not only suggest a sequel but also a possible port. As more and more “Only on PlayStation” games lose their exclusivity, the PC platform could become the ultimate gaming space.

Will Ghost of Tsushima be Released on Steam?

Steam is a go-to platform for PC gamers. And when the question arises about whether Ghost of Tsushima will be available on Steam, it’s almost a certainty.

Ghost of Tsushima PC Release Date

True, the Epic Games Store is also an option, but Steam’s reach is much more extensive. However, it’s worth noting that some games, like God of War, were released simultaneously on both services earlier this year.

Regardless, of whether Ghost of Tsushima releases on Steam or the Epic Store, it’s a win-win for PC gamers. Having a AAA samurai title available for PC would be thrilling. If there is an announcement, it will likely happen at a significant event. So keep an eye out for any upcoming State of Play presentations – you might find exactly what you’re looking for.
