Tekken has an impressive legacy to hold in the world of fighting games. But for seven years since the last installment, Tekken 7, was out and available. Franchise fans were getting hopeless when out of nowhere Sony gave us Tekken 8 release date.

Tekken 8 Trailer

The announcement of Tekken 8 came as a pleasant surprise in September 2022. As there had been little to no rumors circulating about the game’s development. Despite the long wait since the previous installment. To our delight, Sony came out with not just a teaser trailer, but a generous preview of in-engine footage that left us eager for more.

Our excitement got a boost in December 2022 during The Game Awards. Where we had a chance to take a closer look at returning characters and a few unexpected additions to the roster.

Fast forward to February 2023, when Bandai Namco came on a live stream event featuring the game’s developers. The stream gave us a proper showcase of the gameplay changes and the new battle system that Tekken 8 will introduce.

And not just that, a returning fighter trailer in the form of Nina Williams – you can see her in action below.

But the trickle of information didn’t stop there – later that same month Namco gave us a quick look at Kazuya Mishima’s gameplay, as powerful as we knew.

Did you think Bandai was done? Nope. This month, Paul Phoenix came around in the trailer below.

Tekken 8 Release Date

While the trailers for Tekken 8 have been nothing short of impressive. There is one significant letdown – the lack of any release window. We are told to “Stay Tuned” for further updates and information by Bandai.

As any gamer knows, release dates in the industry are often subject to change, and optimism in this regard can be a risky business. Realistically speaking, the earliest we can expect the game to be out in late 2023, with 2024 being a more likely possibility.

That wait may be long. But then there is always that little hope of a surprise announcement by Bandai. And we’ll be playing Tekken 8 on the same day. But till then, it’s better to keep looking for any new information on this highly anticipated game.

Tekken 8 Release Date PS4, PS5, PC, XBOX

Although Sony was the first to reveal Tekken 8, the game will not be exclusive to their PlayStation 5 console. Instead, it will be available on all next-generation platforms, including Xbox Series X/S and PC.

You will not be able to play Tekken 8 PS4 because it’ll be available only on PlayStation 5. However, the game’s impressive visuals and advanced gameplay mechanics would have made it too powerful for the Nintendo Switch anyway.

Tekken 8 Gameplay & Story.

Tekken fans are already probably aware of the complex and intricate story that the Tekken franchise has to offer. The latest installment, Tekken 8, is set to continue this trend, with the first trailer providing some exciting hints about its direction.

The trailer showcases a massive battle between two of the series’ main characters, Jin Kazama and his father Kazuya Mishima. Fans of the series will be happy to know that the Devil Gene, a significant plot point in previous games, is set to play a central role in the story once more, as Jin attempts to control its power for good.

The visuals in the trailer are striking, with the game engine running at 60FPS on the PS5. While it’s not gameplay footage, it does give us a glimpse of what to expect from the game’s mechanics and art direction. The subsequent trailers also have more in-depth looks at the gameplay, which looks smooth and impressive.

Perhaps the most exciting news from the trailers is the return of Jun Kazama, Jin’s mother, who hasn’t been playable since Tekken 2. This announcement has undoubtedly excited longtime fans of the series.

While we’ll have to wait for actual gameplay to get a better idea of how Tekken 8 will change the fighting game genre, the stage design and impressive attacks shown in the trailer are telling us what’s to come.

All in all, Tekken 8 is turning out to be a must-play title for all fans and the fighting game genre as a whole is waiting patiently. With an emotional story, unbelievable graphics, and smooth gameplay mechanics, Tekken 8 is set to break records at its release.
